excuse the proportioning issues

while i was trying to beef up troll hunter, typing up codex ish things, i began my entries on different human races, they're all modelled after real ones, with of course artistic/poetic license.

in my entry i call these peopel Shinaxes, they... oh you don't care do you?

well i'll tell you should there be a 1 in 1000000 chance someone cares.

these people live near swamps and marshes, or in undesirable lands.
they live apart from eachother in tiny villages, or alone.
they wear leather hides roughly sewn together, with a fur or hair cape or cowl, females wear a brooch or a necklace with a pendant that bears their family's symbol, males wear the jewellrey on their belt.
women cut their hair short when they come of age, while males will grow it very long, often past the waist.
basic attributes of these people are their black or dark brown hair, appearance is rough and dusty, but their eyes are coloured warm orange to yellow, thought to be because of their proficiency with magic.
families are loosely knit, men often going out for long periods of time for unknown reasons, while children are left unattended to outside with the dogs.
women make jewellrey or thatch baskets to bring in an income in which they can be quite desirable , but most live off the land... though it is not known how.
large hairy dogs are kept around the homes, lost dogs from farmer's fields or the city, if a shinax visits the city stray dogs will most likely follow them, often times following them all the way back home.
most people leave them be, not wanting to know how they survive in the harsh areas they live.

Nice, I like it- I happened to read the explanation, too. Well written, made me more interested about it. You probably know what I would say about the anatomy- the body looks too small for the head(the face is really good), and the waist could be a bit wider as she's a woman. You could just make the head smaller with computer, that might work- :)

haha sorry dunno how to do that, i don't have photoshop :/ i have been struggling to get back into my old habits, so finishing the drawing became more important than doing a good job (two things that aren't good)

thank you!

Well, you can even do it in MS Paint, with the selection tool and some fixing with the brush tool(I did that once to a pic).

That might be a problem... you could try to leave the sketched work for a while, and then look at it again, or look at it with mirror- those techniques reveal your own mistakes pretty quick (because you get so used to your own style you don't notice it).:)

Otherwise excellent job. Do you draw comics or just random works?

i've drawn manga before, i tend to draw whatever inspires me at whatever time, though it's 95% fantasy, of course you could get an easier answer if you give my gallery a look?

like i said, i was just trying to get it finished, other times proportions aren't as great an issue, though they're never perfect. i do sketch a-lot beforehand, i will sometimes scan the picture if i'm unsure, but like i said i just wanted to finish. you have caused me to be more aware though, and i thank you heartily for doing so.

I already took while I was writing the first comment- good stuff, especially I like the faces of the people you've drawn :D

And yes, I'm a real pain whenever I comment on anyone(pretty rare that I do) because I'm always giving suggestions on every little thing... ^^;

heheh, well no pain felt, truth is bittersweet, but how how would one improve without knowing it?
